Why Scorsese Deserves the Oscar

Well, there are a lot of reasons, not least of which is the fact that he has never been awarded one (Goodfellas? Raging Bull? Hello?), but check out this article that provides screen-captures from The Departed demonstrating how Scorsese borrowed Howard Hawks' techinique in Scarface of using X as a visual symbol for death. It's nice to know that there are directors out there who still have faith in the audience.
